Conversation between me and Joe about HBO and Showtime series...
Me: Why do you think that these series are so much better? Do they just have more money to put on great shows or is it the mature topics that cable doesn't have?
Joe: Not sure, but they also get money from DVD sales. A lot of people buy the series of the shows on premium channels. Usually normal shows aren't bought unless they are classics like Seinfeld, Friends, Mad About You.
Me: Mad about you???
Joe: (crickets)

yummm, that looks delicious! My bf and I have the conversation about showtime and hbo shows too because we are OBSESSED. I think it does have to do with the fact they can show more. While some of the stuff is out there, I think they can make it seem more realistic than a lot of situations on sitcoms on basic cable. It can have that shock factor and make the characters more real.
