Fairy Tales

I feel like I have so much to write about!  First things first, unless you live under a rock you know that today Kate Middleton and Prince William got married in a gorgeous ceremony.  I was not up at 5am to watch it, but I did DVR it and watched it as a special treat after my last class of the semester!!!

Joe was like, I don't see what the big deal is.  Well....she's becoming a princess!  I haven't seen that happen since....

Yesterday I did get prettied up, but it wasn't quite a royal affair.  I didn't have the fancy hat unfortunately :-(

I had a quick lunch at Panera Bread before getting pretty and heading to the Franklin Institute for their annual awards in science.

I had 1/2 chopped BBQ chicken salad

1/2 almond chicken salad sandwich

Fountain Diet Soda <3

Dessert - Mini shot of smores and champagne

The dinner was really fun.  I actually really enjoyed the awards ceremony.  Instead of just having people come up and make speeches, they played short videos of the achievements of the scientists.  Some of them did amazing things that we use daily.  Yay Science!  (Pharmacy Nerd)

Lately I have been thinking a lot about Broad Street.  I am coming to you all with a few questions.

1) Any must have new songs for my playlist?

2) I got new sneakers 2 weeks ago.  I've worn them several times.  Do I wear my new shoes or my old ones for the race?

BIC Band Giveaway Winner

Tonight went by so fast!  Where does the time go.  My To Do lists keep getting longer and longer even though I'm checking things off that.  Math isn't my best subject, but how does that even make sense???

Tonight I had a scrumptious dinner.  Thin pork chops cooked in Teryiaki with some Annie's whole wheat shells and white cheddar organic mac and cheese, and a green bean casserole.  I made the casserole on Easter and took it home so heat up.  Didn't quite come out right.  The beans were undercooked I think from being in the refrigerator for so long.   It happens.

Boring picture but yummy dinner

blah beans
I would like to go to sleep, but just so much to do.  I just need to have that I am very capable of getting it all done!

Morning Spin

This morning when my alarm went off at 7:20 am I was confused and delirious.  What day is it?  Not sure.  Do I have work?  A race?  A class? An exam?  Hmm....oh I remember, I signed up for the 8:30 spin class downtown.  It seriously took me 5 minutes to remember.

The thing about waking up early as, as soon as my feet hit the floor and head to the bathroom, I'm good to go.  While still lying in bed; however, getting up seems next to impossible.

I walked 45 minutes downtown to my new favorite place to spin, Body Cycle Studio.

Today's class was taught by Russel, and he had a great spinning style.  He may be my favorite spin instructor thus far.  His music selection was on point, contemporary and upbeat (I'm not a fan of techno-y music...I like my favorites to spin to).  He also was really informative and kept telling us what our RPMs and gears should be at any given time.  (The bikes are really advanced...I wrote about them in this previous post.)  He even bops around the studio and hops on bikes next to you to encourage you to push harder.  For a few of the songs, he brought us into "the cave" and closed the draps so the room was completely dark while listening to songs like Eminem's Not Afraid.  I was loving the cave, and it really pumped me up and made me sweat.  A+ class in my book.

I had just enough time when I got home from spin (walked home too!) to eat some Wawa breakfast and watch a few minutes of "The Voice."  I definitely like this show.  The concept is really interesting.

Nothing beats Wawa's french vanilla roast.

Egg whites, cheese, and turkey sausage on a bagel

After class that seemed to drag on forever, I am enjoyed another campus lunch (sammy) while sitting outside and taking advantage of the nice weather.  Usually I go home for my 1 hour break between class and case-lab, but I am sick of walking.  I walked to spin, home from spin, and to campus today.  My legs hurt.  Haha.

A Rutt?

Lately I've been feeling as though I am falling into a workout Rutt. (1 T or 2?) I've been running a good amount trying to train for Broad Street Run which is this Sunday, but I really don't feel like I'm sweating enough. I was at my most fit (since starting the blog) before Christmas, but since then I definitely am feeling way less fit, especially the past few weeks. I haven't been eating well at all, and I haven't been burning enough considering how much I'm eating.

I really really want to get into the best shape of my life this summer. I will not be working that much, no school, not really much to do. There is no reason this can't be the summer where I can really get into peak physical condition.

I felt like I didn't eat well today at all, and I decided to go to a spinning class tomorrow morning at 8:30am before I start my day. I'm posting that on here because I know that when my alarm goes off at 7:30 I will not want to get out of bed at all, but I hope I do. Plus I'll feel like an idiot expressing my desire to change and get it together then telling you all that I slept through my alarm. Gotta put my money where my mouth is, right?

One day at a time! :-)

Maybe I should be on the elliptical and not on the couch...can't do homework on an elliptical though I suppose...see you all after early morning spinning! (fingers crossed!)

Ahead of the Game

Today I am ahead of the game.  I actually mustered up the strength to get out of bed and go for a pre-class run.  Winning!

I did 3 easy miles.

Good morning, city!

windy :-)

On the way back to my apartment, I stopped by Wawa to grab a morning drink.  I thought about trying one of the new smoothies that they have been advertising like crazy, but I usually like a chocolatey bananay peanutbuttery smoothie (and they had none of those) so I went for an iced coffee instead.  It wasn't the best.  I got the sugar free vanilla small iced coffee, and it tasted really really bitter.  I added some sweet and lows back at home and managed to make it taste a little better.  I probably wouldn't recommend it or get it again.  Gotta leave the lattes to the experts, Wawa.

Then I went to class and studied after that while I enjoyed some good campus food.

Turkey, American Cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, honey mustard on wheat sammy (yum) - ps. toasted sandwiches always taste so much better!

Yesterday I got EVERYTHING on my To Do list for the day which was amazing!  I am going to try and keep that up all week!  Finals are quickly approaching and I am trying to stay way ahead of the game.  In less than 2 weeks I will be free for 4 months.  I also feel ahead of the game since I got my workout done first thing in the morning.  It takes such a load off my mind knowing that it is already out of the way for the day.

I'm off to be even more productive and tackle the things off my To Do list for today!  (Doesn't hurt that I have a new To Do app for the ipad...I love checking things I've finished off a list...best feeling ever).

BIC Band Giveaway

Happy Monday!  I can understand how Monday's can be a bit of a downer for people, but I pretty much have nothing going on every Monday, so I consider it another day of the weekend.  Today I slept in and recovered from the Easter Holiday.  I ate a ridiculous amount of food this weekend, and now I never want to see another plate of food again.  New dieting technique?  Eat until the thought of it makes you sick...literally.

I will be spending today and the rest of this week studying up a storm.  I actually have fun events going on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday so I am really trying to prepare for my finals (which start next Monday) as early as possible and get ahead of the game.

Ok, so to cheer up everyone's post-weekend Monday blues, I am hosting another giveaway!  Today I am going to be giving away 2 BIC Bands.

I tried out my new BIC Bands several times, and I really really like them.  They are very similar to sweaty bands, only the BIC Bands that I tested were thinner the the sweaty bands that I have.  I couldn't really tell the difference between the two.  BIC Bands have a similar velvet interior that Sweaty Bands have to prevent slipping and promote comfort.  The BIC Bands I tried were both high in quality, never slipped, and looked super cute.  One great thing about the BIC Bands are that they are about half the price of the sweaty bands!  They even have really similar patterns, so if you are eying one up over at Sweaty Bands you may be able to find it at BIC Bands for cheaper.

BIC Bands also donate a portion of the proceeds to a different charity every month.  This month you can see which chartiy they are donating to on their facebook page.  For example, all proceeds from this month go to help get clean water in Africa.  I love to buy products from company's that I know are making a difference.

Me and my turquoise BIC band hamming up on Kelly Drive - ran 8 miles no sliping

Me with a little BIC band pre-workout action - Black with white dots band

My BIC band and I going to campus, no slipping, not too tight to induce headaches during my intense learning...

Me and my BIC band crossing the finish line at the Gener8time 8K...5 miles no adjusting whatsoever....in windy conditions too!

I will be giving away 2 cute BIC Bands to a lucky winner.  The first is red and sparkly...Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz would love it because it matches her magical shoes....and the other is giraffe print.  Super cute!  You don't see giraffe print too much around, so this is a pretty sweet find.
