Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon Expo

I spent some time this morning brushing up on this book that I bought a while back.

I had a really filling lunch of a granny smith apple and the stuffing from last night's Thanksgiving stuffed peppers.  That stuffing is to die for.

In the afternoon I was super productive.  I straightened up, started to pack for the tri, and then headed over to the expo over at the Please Touch Museum.  It was a pretty decent crowd of vendors, and I got lots of free goodies and samples...which is the best part of the expo.

Do Life 5K

Tonight I met up with Ben Davis, his brother Jed, and his Dad as well as a ton of followers of their blogs, 46 to be exact.  We all had a great time chatting and then we set off to do a 5K along Kelly Drive.

I met a fellow blogger from Philadelphia, Krista, over at Kristates!  She was awesome and we ran together and had a great time.  Head over to her blog and check it out.  I love meeting fellow bloggers from Philadelphia and I hope I get the chance to meet some more people from the area.

We went for a running picture and we accidentally knocked heads...whoopsie

After running a 5K and up the Art Museum steps a few times I was ready for dinner!  Lucky for me I have a pretty fantastic boyfriend that cooked us some tacos.  They were delish!

Might as Well

After eating my weight in food today (or so it seemed) and not working out at all, I decided to do what I do best.  Sit on my couch and sign up for another challenge.  I am now officially signed up for the Philadelphia Half Marathon in November.  It will be my second after the ING Philadelphia Half Marathon in September.

Also, I seem to have a triathlon in about 6 weeks.  I am not too concerned about the bike or the run, but I am very very concerned with the swim.  Tomorrow I need to do two things.  I think maybe I should go for a run, since I haven't run in 15 days (Broad Street).  I also am going to begin to try and train for the swim.  I am taking my first swimming lesson tomorrow afternoon.

Also..big shout out to Joey!  He is graduating tomorrow!  Congrats Joe!!!

Pain is Temproary Pride is Forever...

Boy am I in pain today!  I was so happy yesterday crossing that finish line, but I started feeling the effects on my body shortly after.  I have pretty much been on bed rest since.  I'm fairly sure I don't have injuries, just delayed onset muscle soreness.  I know the best thing is an active recovery, so I'm trying to equally rest and move around.  I'm also hoping that by Wednesday I can take a spin class, but we shall see.

On anther note, I am confident that I did well on my first final this morning!  I'm particularly glad to be done with that class!  I have another final tomorrow at 1pm, so after officially becoming nocturnal and sleeping all day, I'm about to hit the books again for another exam...ready set go!

Gener8tion Run 8K Recap / Review

This morning when my alarm went off at 6:45 am, I was having an interesting dream.  I didn't even realize why I was waking up.  After coming to my senses, I contemplated sleeping in since I had a long day with a lot to do.  I then was like...hey girl, you're no quitter.  Get your butt out of bed!  I actually felt really rested when I woke up which is unusual because I could always sleep for hours and hours more.  It was like waking up and trying to decide if you want to go to class to not.  I always know that if I don't go I will just lay awake and kick myself because I can't even enjoy sleeping in anymore.  I knew this would be the same case and since the birds were chirping and there was no rain...I went.

I ran into one of my sorority sisters, Ro!  Small world, but it was great to catch up!

Post-Race Fuel - Dunkin Donuts deliciousness
It was really cloudy, but I'm so glad it didn't rain.  I was freezing before the start of the race, but after I started running that wasn't a problem anymore.  The wind was insane, but I had a GREAT time running this race.  I didn't look at my garmin until we were almost at mile 3.  There were no mile markers so not knowing how long I'd been running or how far really made it go by a little faster. The race was not just a boring out and back course so that also helped.  We turned a lot and were cruising around the Navy Yard.  There was water to look at, boats, buildings, etc all of which I had never seen before.  The race was for "Students Run Philly Style" and there were a lot of kids running along the course which was really great and motivating.  Running is such a great hobby for both fitness and fun, and helping kids in middle school and high school get started is really a great cause.  I don't consider myself an expert runner by any means, so running along side all the kids made me feel like we were all doing it together.  A great way to start the day!

Study time.  I'm boring.

Anyone else racing this weekend?  Anyone doing Boston this weekend!?!?!?  Good luck to everyone!
