Maintaining the Balance

On days where there is a big exam that seems all consuming, it's hard to maintain what I strive to do on a daily basis.  Striving to live the healthiest that I can seems to take a backseat to the major project on my plate.  I know it's a constant struggle for most people, but it's definitely a tough one to master as a student.

Sometimes you can't fit that workout in because an extra hour of sleep with do you wonders when you are going to be up late studying.  Sometimes meals get skipped, then bigger, slightly unhealthier meals are enjoyed.  Sleep schedules are thrown off kilter, and everything becomes slightly out of wack.

I try not to have an all or nothing approach to eating and fitness.  Today was an off day because I was busy with an exam, and then needed to rest after it is over.  Tomorrow is a new day, where you can make better decisions eating-wise, and can maybe find the time to fit in a great workout.

I mean, if these guys can make the time to find the balance and workout...then I should be able to as well.

Tomorrow is a new day!  :-)

Finding the Balance

Today I really feel like I am finding the balance.
Today so far:
-          Woke up
-          Prepared for lab practical
-          Ate brunch
-          Competed my lab practical – and did well!
-          Got out of lab early.  I wanted to sit and watch TV and eat.  Instead I hopped on the elliptical  while watching my favorite daytime show “The Talk” (don’t judge me)
-          While on the elliptical I negotiated down my Comcast bill and talked to my mom on the phone
-          After the elliptical I did a quick abs workout before getting changed, taking out the trash, and heading to class.

Workout
-          30 minutes elliptical – 1.6 miles. 15/20 resistance
-          Abs Circuit: repeated twice
-  1 minute planks
-  50 crunches
-   1 minute bicycles

I just feel like I am effortlessly tackling the things that are on my to do list one by one.  Getting those end of the semester papers done a few weeks early or starting to prepare for finals.  Fitting in workouts when I have found time that I thought would have been used differently.  I think one reason that I am feeling extra balanced is because my apartment is 80% clean.  I intend on doing the other 20% this evening along with some school work, but when your space is organized, you just feel more organized!

Now I have class then I am going to cook some dinner.  After that I am going to do a little school work and enjoy my evening.  Survivor tonight!  Anyone else out there still watch that show?
